MSU Page Redesign
Here is how I feel about the new montclair.edu page design: “it looks like butt”.
Who decided to put an unstoppable flash video featuring loud music and short statements from the staff and students on the front page? It’s not even a flash intro that could be skipped - it just starts playing every time you navigate to the page. Ugh! That’s possibly the worst thing you can do with a media content on a web page.
For my tastes the design is to busy and graphics intensive. Personally I like simplicity, and clarity. But that’s just me.
It’s funny, but most people at school used to navigate to montclair.edu and then use the quick links feature to get to places like WESS or Blackboard. I was always a fan of just typing in wfs or blackboard in the address box and grinning in response to puzzled looks on people’s faces. Perhaps now people will pick up on this little trick, seeing how a visit to the main page will always mean enduring the flash vid…

AHHHHHH. Evil. kill it kill it.
in their defence, at least the video doesn’t play on an endless loop.
now as a side note, can you imagine what it’d be like if i was one of those quotes. “abandon all sense of knowledge when ye come here,” “run or they’ll screw you in the asshole too”
lets see how the complaints go.

LOL!
Well, it might as well be an endless loop. The chances are that by the time it finishes you have navigated away. Next time you are on the homepage, it hits you again.
Sigh…

I’m the same! I always quick sites simple and clear. I’d rather type the full web addresses in the bar instead of having to click links.
