Well, I didn't think it was that bad... There was one Garfield joke that was actually really funny, the one from the Garfield dictionary under "Pathetic." It's the only one actually worth reading, so if you don't find that one funny, then go back to your buttsecks jokes. :) Calvin and Hobbes wasn't bad, but I think that hyperdeathbabies comics and Kris Wilson are still the best. It's not like they could ever be printed in a regular newspaper, though... it's a shame.

Well, I think that irony does not mix well with crude "buttsecks" jokes. Furthermore, subtle irony would be lost on the reader when the punchline of the strip is "SURRISE BUTTSECKS". :P

Or perhaps the irony here is the topic matter. Garfield, known for his laziness, and relatively tame and subtle humor suddenly turns around and rapes his owner. He was such a nice cat, one would say. Why would he do this? Was it the years of sexual deprivation in captivity? Was it the chronic malnutrition caused by being fed lasagna instead of appropriate balanced cat diet?

Or perhaps what we see here is the very early stage in young Garfield's life when he discovered he was gay? Perhaps this is the moment that sealed his fate, as his owner doubtlessly took him to the vet to get fixed afterwards. What we see next is the outcome of his castration. Deprived of his manhood, the lively, impressionable young Garfield becomes a lazy, self indulgent, morbidly obese, sarcastic snob and devotes his life to slowly driving his owner insane in revenge...

Or perhaps the irony is simply that the strip is the combination of the Garfield panels known for clean and PG jokes, and some really sophomoric low-brow, butt sex humor.

Either way it's amusing. :)

I think there are several Garfield based projects out there. I vaguely remember a site which would randomly put together 3 unrelated panels from the comic each time you would hit refresh - often with comical results.

Some community also had Garfield comic strip alteration contest, in which they would swap panels around and edit the captions. Not sure where it was (might have been at Something Awfu - but I'm not sure - it kinda seems tame for these guys) but I think the whole thing was featured on BoingBoing.

There is also one website which "explains" the Marmeduke strips which are 50 more lame than Garfield and generally make no sense at all. :P

The only two decent strips that appear in mainstream press that I enjoy are Dillbert and Foxtrot. Almost everything else is practically garbage.

In fact, I can hardly believe that crap like Family Circus gets printed at all. I mean, who the hell finds that shit funny?

Reminds me of "The Panel Project" comics on www.hyperdeathbabies.com

Its a bunch of comics from various sources (The Family Circus, Garfield, some others, that other one, thingy... OK I only know 2 of them) then adds some extra panels to "fix" the comic.
