I think there are only 3 groups of people who are really excited about Vista: Microsoft Marketroids, Clueless Microsoft Fanbois and Malicious Mallware Writers. No one else seems to really care…

Its essentially just the same as other versions of Windows, plus some shiny graphics (who cares), for more money (bad) and fewer consumer rights (also bad)
and that User Account Control thing looks really annoying, although I guess its a step away from the user always being an administrator. The administrator accounts are still subject to the UAC a lot of the time, but anyone trying to fuck with their system will get so annoyed with the security stuff that they’ll decide to just give up and stick with defaults - hence, no more screwed up Windows boxes cause by clueless users

From what I heard Vista will use lot’s of tiny warning dialogs to notify users about potentially harmful actions. We all know how that works, no? People will just get annoyed and disable it or start clicking yes on every dialog without reading it.
Let’s hope that the user model is less broken than the one in XP so that people can actually run as users without having to bend over backwards.
