Free Fully Hosted PHPBB Forums with no Ads

My brother plays Megalomania a lot. He wanted to create a private forum away from the official game forums where he and his group of friends and allies could discuss strategies, evil galaxy domination plots and etc. He didn’t want to invest any money into it - he just wanted a free forum, preferably without annoying ads but he couldn’t find anything good out there.

I did some googling and found the FreeForums.org site. They offer to host a fully functional PHPBB for you with no ads or popups. I think they do have some limits on uploads, but I don’t think they have an upper cap on how big your forum can grow.

Their domain naming is also pretty good - you will simply get a subdomain under freeforums.org (ie. foo.freeforums.org). Sounds like a really great deal if you ask me.

If you are looking to set up a forum, and you want it to be hosted for free without ads, go check them out.

      Isn’t e107 more of a CMS than a forum?

      I’ll send him the link.

I’m not really that much into these type of things. He actually once convinced me to join Megalomania, but I got bored with it after two days. P

Yeah, I know - these things can get pretty intense. But I hardly have enough time to keep up with all the feeds I read, and post here as it is. )

I posted it to show that there is a site that offers free e107 hosting… but I really don’t recommend it unless you HAVE to use it.. but I am sure you can find a better option somewhere.

Matt, I think he goes by name WundaSlav or something like that.

Oh, and FreeForums.org are not as great as I thought. He says they go down all the time. Not a week goes by without an outage, or some technical issue with them. Meh…

      I am wounded Travis!

E107deluxe used to be bad but now that the tech guy actually knows e107 it is coping perfectly.

We have had 40 members sign in up in the last 7 days and now have several hundred sites on e107deluxe.com.

It is a shame that so much hostility was shown on other forums towards a commercial version of E107 I am a visionary and am sure that i can, with the proper support of the e107 community have this become the top cms system out there.

As for the E107deluxe, i really dont like using it but its what i have inherited and hope to move everything over to jiblo.com and aim for a non geek clientel those who just want a website that can do all for them without having to know the mechanics behind the website.

please put it through its paces and look through its 150+ themes your input would be invaluable

Matt, he tells me that you can’t win the game by being in the first place all the time. You just need to be in the first place at the end. )
