Many people have found that a few modifications to their xorg.conf InputSection has fixed the side-button->RMB issue. See the btnx manual troubleshooting section 11.2.1 at http://www.ollisalonen.com/btnx/man/x829.html#AEN987

I haven't tried it but my mouse is pretty far away from the USB hub in it's natural position, and it's working great so far.

The MX looks nice - it seems like the thumb wheel would be much more useful than the zoom slider on VX. I kinda figured out how to press it to switch desktops now but it's to stiff to the point where the the little grip surface texture on top of it digs into my finger when I pull on it.

I've never used the VX, but I have the MX which has a couple more buttons. Very cool. Far and away the best mouse I've used.

Does the VX work from well away from the computer? My MX works from any distance I've tried it at, including once from another room as a joke.
