@Anja: Eh, depends where you go. I grew up in Poland so I sort of know these things intimately. The ugly buildings is the soviet style architecture in collectivist economy for ya. A lot of Eastern Europe is full of these dull, gray, urban sprawls of identical blocky apartment complexes encroaching on what could otherwise have been nice scenic vistas. I mean you can't just demolish these things. We're stuck with them.

As for dirty, it depends where you go. Go ride the NYC subways and you'll definitely want to take a shower after that. Big cities get dirty.

I've been to an Eastern country, and I know that they've gotten all fancy and pretty some places, but it is really a lot of ugly there, too. I mean, seriosly, this summer I was in Slovenia at ECC, and Ljubljana was not one of the prettiest things. They has nighlife and whatever fun, but the quality seemes rather lousy, and the originall boulding look horrible. And everything seems so dirty, it's reallt gross. I felt I had to shower every hour or so.. oO

Not at all like here in Norway. We have a LOT of really old building and random styff, but they look beatiful. You can't look at a picture of Norway without seing a wonderfull landscape or an old cabin type of thing. And we have a clean country. Just saying..

And I am never going to see this movie, I nearly puke only thinking of it ;)

Yeah, the movie is basically illustrating how an a ignorant, xenophobic American viewer might imagine eastern Europe - not how it actually is. :)

Zack, there is really no registration here. I'm using Gravatars for the pictures. Simply go there, register your email, upload an image and it will show up on any blog that supports Gravatars (there are quite afew of them out there).

Nice thing about it is that your avatar goes with you from blog to blog, so getting an account is actually worthwhile. :)

Thanks!

Good to know that someone is actually reading the movie reviews around here. They typically don't get a lot of comments. :)

This just popped up on HBO last night and I decided to watch it per your review. I actually enjoyed it. I'm kinda picky when it comes to slasher-esque type movies. I found this to be a "fairly" unique concept but I am glad I saw it. I agree with a lot of the stuff you said in this review as well.
