I love reading (German) pulp serials, and there is one I believe you would enjoy: it's called Maddrax, about an US jet pilot thrown into the future 500 years by a strange coincidence of an "asteroid" about to impact and a Martian time-travel beam.
The future is made of monsters, mutations and strange people, the impact caused a new ice age, and the asteroid is inhabited by aliens in green crystals who build up new morphable bodies for themselves. Later they discover that the asteroid itself is sentient and created the aliens, then they got out of control.
Very apocalyptic and very pulp ;), a mixture of horror and SF, with lots of trashy reminescences to ST:TOS, ST:TNG, SW, Elvis and lots of other funny stuff ;)

LOL

Actually, I thought that this simple device really added character to the book. It became more of a stream of consciousness kind of thing. Didn't really bother me at all.
