Yep, I tried most of them but I didn't like most of them.

Ktwitter is just a bare bones KDE app that pops up a dialog and submits it to twitter.

Zentwitter is a simple bash script that does the same but using Zenity. I actually wrote a script just like that at one point myself.

Gtwitter is Gnome centric.

GtkTwitter was a royal pain in the ass to compile, and when I did compile it it kept crashing every 5 seconds.

Twitbar, Twit and Wayd are all Gnome desktop apps.

The shell, vim and emacs versions didn't really interest me that much.

Twitux also had multiple Gnome dependencies and wasn't working that great for me.

Nothing as nice and polished as Snitter or Spaz.

Ah, I will need to check them out then. :)

Oh, and I do follow you on Twitter - it's just that I have a hard time keeping up with the stream of tweets so I just switch it off at times. You can probably see this in the way my twitering frequency fluctuates over the course of the week. :P

Have you considered using screenlets? I love the little buggers... Typically I don't even have a use for them, but they make my desktop feel more cluttered something I like since I don't bother putting icons on my desktop.

That's "--replace" with two minuses - they seem to be getting merged into an <em>en dash</em>.
