Actually, I don’t mind that they diverted….though the crimes in the second book would have made some interesting and twisted TV. Someone is carving people up, but leaving them alive: without ears, eyelids, nose, lips, tongue, teeth, arms, legs, and genitalia (beans and weiners…only killing guys…ex-military…oddly, same unit as the black guy (can’t remember his name)).

I don’t watch daytime TV. I abhor reality shows and I usually can’t stand news because I really don’t give a flying fuck about celebrities, sensationalist fear mongering and stupidity - I’ll get my news online, thank you very much.

This way I can just enjoy the show, rather than obsess on how it diverges from the original. And from what I know the show and the book diverge and take different directions pretty quickly. Eli Stone really didn't do much for me. I saw two or three episodes and just didn't like it all that much.
