Skinjob is a toaster with a human skin (eg. Sharon), no?

I was more interested in situation like this:

Quantum Leap Due: “Centurions, kill those humans!”
Galactica Sharon: “Don’t kill them! Stand down!”

What happens then? Do they just listen to the last order? Do they just stand around confused? Are they autonomous enough to make a strategic decision in a situation like that?

Re: identification. Here is my theory on how they identify eachother:

– every cylon has a unique identifying code or something like that
– the code is transmitted using the same technology as the consciousness uploads
– when two cylons meet, they exchange their ID code

I suspect that they could poll another cylon within a line of sight for ID. The sharing of ID would probably be involuntary instinct judging from Cylon’s they recognized Boomer as the Galactica heor when she got resurected in that Cylon city on Caprica.

They might be closely networked like you said, but we have seen that the individual units tend to be capable of operating away, or even against other Cylons. But then again, when they discussed insurgency in Baltar’s ofice each of the copies said “We agree” as if they were speaking for their whole population. This suggests some sort of hive-mind thing going on…

“Skinjob” sounds so gross. How about Metally Challenged?

“Hmm… I wonder what happens when two cylons give a centurion conflicting orders”

If it were me, I’d stuff them in the nearsest thunderdome and let them figure it out themselves.

As for different models, I tend to wonder how they are ‘networked’, which is the only way I can see them recognize and differentiate between each other. I mean, word of mouth seems like an inefficient way to get to know your fellow cylons. It’d be like the cocktail reception from hell.

I guess it depends if they sent a skinjob with the centurion squad or not. She could simply order the centurions to deactivate or if that’s not possible just make them stand down as the marines blow them up.

Cylons would have to assume that the insurgents destroyed the squad somehow.

Unless of course the Centurions have an uplink back to base in which case they might become aware that a Cylon is conspiring with the insurgents. Would they suspect Sharon? Who knows…

If there is a skinjob leading the squad, then the answer is simple – yes.

Hmm… I wonder what happens when two cylons give a centurion conflicting orders :P

Btw, how to copies of the same model distinguish between each other? For example if Sharon A meets Sharon B one day, and then Sharon C another day, how can she distinguish between the two?

I would believe ordering the centurions to stand down is how Sharon is going to get them out of that pickle. My question is, will the other Sharons become aware of her presence?

Heh… Yeah, Ms. Whatsherface and Al from Quantum Leap are just about the last two people person I want to see getting it on and discussing sexual techniques :P

It might have been a little bit overdone, but it definitely worked in the context.

Here is a question:

Adama said that Centurions can’t distinguish Sharon from other Cylons. Can’t she just order the riding party that ambushed them in the forest to stop?

I thought it was a wee bit heavy handed with the trying to form parallels with current events, but as an episode I enjoyed it ok. It dragged a bit in the middle and I coulda done without the Mrs. Tigh porn stuff. Blah!

I never actually saw an episode of 24. I always mean to check it out, but I never do. Anyways, I was not aware of that. Heh, that kinda makes me want to watch the show now.

But in 24 you still root for the good guy no? You want them to catch the terrorists and prevent innocents from being killed. BSG makes you look at things from the eyes of the bad guy fighting for a something that he believes is right.

Obviously, Cylons are not th good guys here – but perhaps neither are we…
