I think we need to get together an 18-wheel truck full of ostriches and rabbits and go park there

I don’t know how many readers you get, but if you asked everyone to donate £1/$2/€1.50/100Y then you gotta be able to get something (even if its just a small car with a goldfish bowl in it)

A friend of my dad used to be a super at a big apartment complex and they had a similar issue with people parking in the reserved spots. They actually found a relatively easy solution.

They made a deal with a local towing company so a tow truck would swing by their parking lots every 3-4 hours. If you were parked in a reserved spot bit you didn’t have a parking sticker you would get towed away. There was a big sign on the wall explaining this, and giving you a phone number where you could find out where they took your car.

You could also get temporary parking permit plaques that you could hang from your mirror from the super – so if you wanted someone to park in your spot you could just give one to them.

If you found some asshole parked in your spot without a sticker, you just had to complain to the super who would just call for the towing truck. It worked like a charm. The tenants were happy, the towing company was making money and the parking issues were being dealt with promptly and effectively.

Another solution is to make friends at the local police department and explain the issue to them. Maybe they can send someone to drive by your parking lot once or twice a day, and deal out some tickets. :)

Nah, I’ve got to say, I’m with them on this one. I’ve got two parking spots where I live and they’re both marked with the apartment number yet people just can’t seem to read a simple number. Either they’re ignorant, illiterate or inconsiderate.

You know how many times I’ve wanted to slash tires and key paint jobs because of this? It’s a very frustrating feeling to see someone’s car sitting in the spot clearly marked with a reserved sign (or a do not park, or an apartment number). Last summer I ripped my hands apart removing the foliage that had grown around the signs in a desperate attempt to show the errant parkers that the spots belonged to someone. I think it made about 10% difference.

Nope, the sad fact is that people are either ignorant or arrogant, but very seldom are they considerate. And that goes for people who park in handicap spots, or family parking spots, or even people who take the elevator in the mall instead of the stairs while those who actually need to use it have to wait around or squeeze in between just to get in.

My favorite is the last line on this sign: http://www.popartuk.com/humour/signs/mp0008-large.asp

I actually have that poster, maybe I should pull it out, highlight the bottom and put it up next to my parking spots.

How self centered and cocky can you get. “Don’t even think about parking…” who do they think they are!? At best, I wouldn’t be surprised if someone defaces (read DESTROYS) that sign very soon.
