@Virgil: I hardly ever use the zoom bar and the tilts. I set the tilt to switch between tabs in Firefox – so I can go back and forward through them just by tilting the scroll wheel.

The zoom button is hard to reach and rather stiff (ie. requires considerable effort to push/pull compared to the other buttons) so I currently just ignore it.

Have the very same mouse. It does work from more than 10 meters away, probably farther but that’s the longest distance I could test indoors.

I never found much use for the zoom, so in Windows I remapped them to ‘show desktop’ and ‘switch application’, and tilts as copy and paste. I haven’t figured what I’d set them to in ubuntu, since copy and paste are automatic.

Oh, thanks! I’ll check it out.

Many people have found that a few modifications to their xorg.conf InputSection has fixed the side-button->RMB issue. See the btnx manual troubleshooting section 11.2.1 at http://www.ollisalonen.com/btnx/man/x829.html#AEN987

I haven’t tried it but my mouse is pretty far away from the USB hub in it’s natural position, and it’s working great so far.

The MX looks nice – it seems like the thumb wheel would be much more useful than the zoom slider on VX. I kinda figured out how to press it to switch desktops now but it’s to stiff to the point where the the little grip surface texture on top of it digs into my finger when I pull on it.

I’ve never used the VX, but I have the MX which has a couple more buttons. Very cool. Far and away the best mouse I’ve used.

Does the VX work from well away from the computer? My MX works from any distance I’ve tried it at, including once from another room as a joke.
