For you innocent young people who invested money on a blockbuster rental I say this, didn’t the title “Showdown at Area 51” give away the fact that this was going to be a really bad flick. They couldn’t afford a good title…and you expected a good film? Sad so sad. Oh and in my opinion GiGi is worth the price of this film. Like the man said just pay attention to the cute blond.

My daughter attempted to read this…she is nine. Should she be limited in her ability to appreciate what you may have to say about the sci-fi art form because of language.? While you are absolutely right it is your site and if you wish to curse on it…it is your right. But really man…were they really necessary curse words really necessary..?

“Showdown At Area 51” isn’t even anywhere near Area 51. It’s not anywhere near Nevada, or anywhere near a desert. It looks like it was filmed in Missouri or Tennessee or something — in a lush green forest not in a desert. I’m pretty sure Area 51 is in the middle of a very large, very dry desert with tall mountains around it – not by a grassy field with farms and barns by it. Maybe they should have called the movie “Showdown at an alfalfa field” or something.

By the way, this was absolutely, without a doubt the worst, most pathetic movie ever made. After about 30 minutes into the movie, I actually put my face in my hands and started sobbing, thinking that “There is no way someone can make something so entirely pathetic.”

I want my money back Blockbuster!!!!!

Being from St. Louis The only thing I found of intrest was the use of the City museum as the setting for the climax of the movie. A;though I’ll never vist the city museum again without thinking about this film an laughing.

I had the pleasure of watching this tonight with some friends. We actually recorded it and watched it later because it sounded so damned cheesy. To my surprise my friends and I actually had a great time watching it. It’s just so bad that it’s fun to watch.

There were so many scenes where you could see the film crew, and they were blatantly obvious too. “Oh my god, that pile of cars is falling over! What’s that? Something pushing it over and a dude in a white shirt giving the thumbs up??

Yeah, getting any Australian shows seems to border on impossible. It seems that they don’t seed their own shows – I guess they are too busy downloading American TV. :P

I watched this movie today (because Gigi Edgley was in it), and I have to agree with you. It sucked. The first 10 minutes were actually borderline exciting (I know how to appreciate a cheesy sci-fi flick :D), but after that the plot was boring at best. Acting was terrible (in most cases), and the “special effects” weren’t as impressive as they might have originally thought. And yes, it was confusing. Didn’t they need that last piece of the deactivating thingy? I never saw them reattach it. And seriously, they put the rod in the “termination port” and the space fleet goes all “Invasion has been cancelled, return to base”. Wtf? I agree with Jake (“Ranger Smith”): “That’s it? A little anti-climactic…”

I probably wouldn’t have watched more than 15 minutes if it wasn’t for my unhealthy obsession with Gigi (hey, at least I can admit it! :P). She did look good in this one. I haven’t seen her in many productions (other than Farscape); as you say, Australian TV rarely sees daylight in other parts of the world. I’ve been trying to find a torrent for Secret Life Of Us for a while now, but it seems to be a dead end. That sucks.

Oh, and btw (I guess you know this by now); baldie’s name is Jude. Go figure.

I also wonder who green-lights things like that. Maybe they pump money into silly projects like that to avoid taxation or paying royalties on something else – who knows. :P

This movie was so bad i could not handle it. I did not pay attention and i got that shit at blockbuster and i payed five fourty for that rental. i was so pissed i went back and made them give me a refund. I cant imagine someone even gets money to make shit like that.
