Nope, this is not correct. It has been shown time and time again that presence or absence of DRM has virtually no noticeable effect on it’s availability on file sharing networks. The scene knows how to deal with DRM quickly and effectively so in most cases they still crank out 0-day, DRM or not.

DRM does prevent casual copying – for example when you buy a CD, sometimes you might want to make a copy for your boyfriend/girlfriend. If it’s protected with DRM you can’t do that. But you can easily hit the torrent sites, download the full rip of the CD and give that to your significant other.

So yeah, DRM is actually helping scene groups along, making them more widely known even among people who would normally never hit P2P.

DRM is still a major problem in the online music and video industry. I hate DRM, and I’m sure 99% of the people reading this agree with me – DRM sucks. The only benefit is for the record companies, so that their music cannot be shared on file sharing/BitTorrent websites. It brings the user absolutely no benefits, and many drawbacks – including limiting what you can do with your music/video in almost every way possible. Whether it’s putting the file on your mobile phone, or wanting to use it on more than five computers. Well, it looks like 5thirtyone has a stunningly simple solution to your DRM problems.

So now I found a great decission – MelodyCan converter (http://www.convert-any-media.com) which helps me to resolve drm-protection problem.

I never got a trojan from a scene release, but I did hear about infected fakes circling around. Wasn’t this why AXXO suspended activity recently? Because some assholes were using his name to peddle malware?

The thing about Apple is that when they fuck up and bork your machine, you can sue them. If you get infected by warez though, it’s your own fault. So most people would rather go with the brand name. :)

Downloading from the Pirate Bay is a trojan waiting to happen.

People trust Apple more than they trust the “Pirate Bay” or other strangely named site like that.

Some people maybe, personally I’d rather deal with the pirates than Apple :wink:
