@Zack: Good point. I’ll keep that in mind for the future if we expand this. Btw, what AP’s do you use? I’m guessing that there are probably some crippled ones on the market right now as well that won’t have bridging functionality.

@Ryan: I made it with Visio cause I had it from work. It’s sad but while there are many open source alternatives none of them has a nice default set of icons that is as nice and as comprehensive. Go figure.

Stupid question here, but what program did you use to create the network diagram? It looks great and I am hoping it is open source.

You can do the same kinda thing with pretty much any designated “access point.” I’ve done this same basic thing to cover an entire house with WiFi signal. I wirelessly bridged 4 netgear access points to cover a 12,000 square foot house. Plus the nice thing is you can plug in a switch or computer into the ethernet port on the access point. The clients i’ve setup with this kinda environment haven’t had any problems….with the exception of one client that had an access point die.

Yep, I’ve run into the WRT54G vs WRT54GL issue before as well. I can say, it is really annoying. I rather prefer OpenWrt to DD-WRT, however.
