Yet another synchronicity, I posted a Paulo Coelho quote on my tumblr and then someone following it reposted the quote with the note “Apropos. I’m reading The Alchemist.” So I open liferea and read this blog. Strange universe I live it :)

@Eilleen: Damn! I totally fell for it. Touché!

@Matt`: You are right. Fatalism often leads to apathy or inaction. Positive thinking on the other works in opposite way – it can invigorate you, and push you forward. It has nothing to do with the “law of attraction” or whatnot.

“Want it really hard and the universe will give it to you”… huh, sounds like prayer to me, but without the magical sky fairy to actually make anything happen.

I suspect that the closest thing to a proper mechanism by which it might work is to encourage people to stick at something rather than abandoning themselves to futility… “act like you’re already promoted” being a way of saying “work harder”.

But nonetheless, there’s no spooky force beyond the benefits of positive thinking…

Wow…too freaky. I noticed this book in my girlfriend’s bookcase. She told me what it was about, and I told her…to read The Alchemist instead. Way too weird.
