It’s true- my battery only gives me 24 hours or so, which is kinda annoying. I’ve been thinking of getting one of the high-capacity batteries, but don’t want to pay the $80. I’m going to see if I can get my work to spring for it. ;)

I used QuickPull‘ to reboot my Storm- but that stopped working when I updated to the new OS version. So I just pull the battery.

I heartily recommend the StormOTA app, too- to get easy access to apps.

@Gothmog: How is your battery life? Mine can usually last ~24 hours. If I changed mine now, I would probably have to charge it again tomorrow around the same time – or tomorrow evening.

And I’m not using it heavily – just email, twitterberry mostly. That is my only issue with the device – I wish the battery lasted longer. I only had to charge my old phone like once a week.

I only rebooted mine like 2-3 times since I got it. Once it was because of connectivity issues (verizon’s fault, not the storms), once for the firmware upgrade and once or twice when installing/uninstalling apps. Haven’t really noticed huge memory issues.

Btw, how do you reboot yours? Battery pull? Or did you download one of the apps to do it? That’s another weird thing about this phone – no soft reboot button that a user could press. Applications can request a reboot, but the user has to actually pull the battery. WTF?

Other than that, I really like it. It’s been doing everything I need it to do and I pretty much mastered the clicky keyboard by now.

So, Luke- I just bought one last week, fueled in part by your endorsement. And I find I like the Storm quite a bit as well!
You’ve had your Storm for a couple of weeks now… any regrets? Other annoyances crop up? I’ve gotten into the habit of rebooting it once a day to combat any memory leak problems- and that seems to be keeping it running smoothly

What about software? I’ve found I like Mobiola player for playing audiobooks, it has a bookmarking feature.

I’ve also got the google suite of apps installed. They rock. I wish they had a better implementation of google reader- Viigo is just overkill as an RSS reader and is a memory-hog, I’ve found.

You should check out the Slacker radio app, if you have unlimited data with your plan.
It gets the edge from pandora for me, because it has comedy, which I really enjoy.

@tash: Yeah, there are apparently several of them. Check this out.

In all seriousness though, the nice thing about storm is that *most* apps developed for blackberries in general will work in it. MidpSSH works on storm with few minor bugs that will hopefully get ironed out in next release.

I believe there are others. I haven’t tried any of them yet.

@Steve: From what I can tell, iPhone has a better thought out interface. Storm is still a blackberry so everything is pretty much menu driven. iPhone is screen driven and easier to pick up. With Storm you sort of need to learn couple tricks (when in doubt, try blackberry button, end-call button doesn’t close applications and etc..)

But yeah, Storm does what I need it to do so I’m happy with it.

@k00pa: Well, both iPhone and Storm are fairly locked down systems. They both also have rabid communities and fairly large number of applications (iPhon has more I think).

If you want something really open I’d probably look into the phones based around Google’s Android framework. It’s a common platform what lets you develop apps that will work across all the different phones that support it.
