I never played crysis.

This is probably the most demanding game I have ever played graphics wise, as I recently bought an HD 2600XT Sb edition for $25 (I’m cheap)

It runs at decent settings.

Anyways, I also found this game boring.

You have to drive across the map for every mission. No flying, no ATV, motorcycle. Using the boat only works half the time.

I didn’t know about the bus stations. I’ll try using them after I figure out why far cry 2 is randomly crashing.

It seems like you are driving 90% of the game.

When you compare this game’s environment to GTA 3,4,5, it’s very boring. It’s Africa. It’s not an urban jungle. It’s a safari. In a third world country.

This should be called “The sims; third world country conflict”

Your guns break down, jam, explode – even the ones you buy.

The cheap mexican makes you buy “reliability” upgrades for your guns. (and accuracy upgrades too)

I’m going to play this just to get the better guns (and hopefully that means more fun)

Boring game. Good graphics. AI sucks.

I suppose I know understand what people mean by the graphics being a very un-important part of the game – seeing as that’s all this game really has.

@ Zel:

Well, I gave the game a chance but it failed to draw me in. Maybe I’m exaggerating a bit with the aggressiveness of the AI but I really found it annoying. I tried the waterways too but I found that every single time I even came close to the shore I was getting shot at by some enemy I couldn’t even see through the foliage. Oh and somehow I once got 3 other fan boats chasing me across the whole map withing 2 minutes of getting on board. :P

But you are probably right – I was looking for Crysis type gameplay and what I got was something entirely different.

I haven’t noticed your major complaints nearly as much during my 1 and 1/2 plays through this game. I’m not saying the problems weren’t there, but they were not at all fun breaking to me.

Sniping and stalking are definitely an option since I played the whole game (some 50 hours or so) doing exactly that. Sure, taking a shot at a far away enemy with a (satisfyingly loud!) .50 caliber sniper rifle or a Dragunov would alert him to my position, but he just couldn’t retaliate without closing in, giving me time to unload my clip if I botched the first head shot or just move to another location. When I heard a car closing in, I’d just hide behind a tree, let it close in and lob a grenade under the wheels. Really, it only got frustrating on the second half of the map (when I stopped the second time around), as opponents with mortars can pinpoint your location miles away once alerted, and drop highly painful explosives on your face with an uncanny accuracy.

As far as checkpoints go, why not just … drive through them ? By the time they got to their cars, I was usually far away and they never chased me afterwards. Random cars are annoying (especially the ones with a grenade launcher mounted), but I handled these with the small grenade launcher to make quick work of them while enjoying the fireworks. To get to the other end of the map without any trouble, I would just use the small boats with a fan : no encounters, and a beautiful scenery reflected on the water.

After Crysis and its overpowered cloaking ability, coupled with deadly stealthy rifles (the SCAR with a silencer and a sniper scope in maximum strength : 200 guaranteed head shots…), I can understand if you find it annoying to actually have to walk to another position and wait for the music to calm down (it’s a good indicator of enemy alertness). I also hated at first, then I relied on choke points, higher grounds, quick escape routes, and things were much more enjoyable and satisfying then.
