Very nice review. I waited to read it until I saw the movie just now. Couldn’t agree more with all you said. Kick-ass kick ass! ;)

@ Luke Maciak:
Oh I agree with that, I hate dubs with a passion. Unfortunately I can’t ignore subs. Never could. And then I just get annoyed when they fail to translate something correctly (or, in many cases, when there isn’t a good translation) and can’t fully enjoy the movie. I always pay too much attention to everything -_-

@ Rob:

Hey, I don’t always post negative reviews. There are plenty of movies I like.

@ dawn:

Well, since it is rated R the impressionable audience won’t be admitted without a parent. :)

But seriously though – the movie is lampooning the superhero mythos which has been around for years. And yet, there are no known cases of costumed vigilantism anywhere. When kids read/watch superhero stories they don’t actually get inspired to dress up and fight crime. They get inspired to strap a blanket to their back as a makeshift cape and run around playground yelling “I’m Batman!” to which someone responds “I’m Iron Man, PEW PEW PEW!”

@ Kim Johnsson:

In general I will take subs over dubs. If you know the language you can just ignore subs altogether, and if you don’t you still hear the original voice acting which in most cases is superior to the dub work.

I’d seen it and discounted it as not worth watching. After your post I thought I’d give it a chance. Great film. It was a great mix of the good parts of Spiderman (there weren’t many) mixed with The Professional and Kill Bill.

That bazooka was awesome =D

This is one of the few movies I’ve watched on the big screen lately, and only because I was abroad (Croatia) at the time. I don’t like Swedish subs… Anyway, it was a great movie and I agree, everyone should see it!

My two favorite scenes (spoiler alert ?):

“…Also I’m not gay.
– F#CK”

“F*ck this sh*t, I’m taking the bazooka”

I found Kick-Ass very entertaining, but I can’t help wondering what effect it can have on impressionable audiences…

Obligatory “What? A movie you actually liked?” comment.

There, that’s out of the way now.
