I agree with Gothmog — coop revolves almost exclusively around killing eachother. If anything, it was only harder with four people. Doing things like carrying a certain weapon to a certain boss halfway through the game were entirely impossible with unpredictable death coming from poorly announced lightning bolts and tornadoes.

I think the game is too hectic and fast paced to use any coherent multiplayer strategy without having played through several times and memorizing the level design.

Magicka is quite a unique and fun game! Yeah, the lack of saves is very annoying though. Luckily it “auto-checkpoints” you before a hard fight. But what killed it for me is how the game increasingly bottlenecks you into using certain spell combinations and lessens the rewards for experimentation as you go on.

By the time I hit the chapter after you visited Death, it kinda killed it for me as the only spell seems effective for the next set of monsters is simply spamming Haste and Death. Got bored after that and didn’t continue on.

I was fortunate to have bought the game with 3 other friends, and you’re right- the game is FAR more enjoyable played while screaming at your buddy to REVIVE ME YOU BASTARD AND STOP SPAMMING BLACK HOLES I HATE YOU AND HOPE YOU ROT IN A DARK NETHERHELL OH VERY FUNNY REZ ME THEN KILL ME AGAIN EH I WILL *CHOKE* YOU MOTHERFUCKER…

Sorry- kinda lost it there…
You get the idea. Actually, we ended up skipping the story and played the Arena modes almost exclusively. They capture the fun and chaos far better than the story, IMO.

One of my coworkers recommended it to me.
Fun game, bad jokes. I don’t have time for games anymore, so I like games like Capsized.

We should play it some time, I haven’t played it yet after buying it on sale, just because I’m so lonely :D
