@ Chrissy:

I agree. Launchpad UI is a mess. I tried using it once, got frustrated and decided against touching it ever again. :P

@ icebrain:

I think trac can be used from the shell… At least you configure it from the shell. I’m not sure about a remote shell client though.

But I think you are on to something here. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a bug tracking software with nice web interface AND also a fully functional shell client? This could be a neat project.

@ astine:

You Emacs people and your org files. I will have to learn how to use that damn editor from space of yours one day, and check out that damn org mode thou bragst about so much.

@ Morghan:

I was convinced you are talking about cat the shell command rather than the animal for a minute there. Then I wondered what web spiders have to do with anything. :P

@ StDoodle:

Heh! The whiteboard issue tracking system. I have used that once at an old job. Fun times!

Issue #1: Cleaning crew erased all the previous issues.

Bah, you fancy programmers and your fancy tools. Here in the world of computer drafting, we copy directories for our “version control” or spend thousands on the one crappy software package that kinda works with CAD. For tracking issues, we have paper, pencils, and whiteboards, and we like it that way!

(No, actually, we don’t.)

I use a cat. Spiders, scorpions, stink bugs, none can escape its feline wrath.

Oh, wait, wrong kind of bug.

The last issue tracker I used regularly was Jira and I rather liked it, but that was at my old job. These days I don’t really use an issue tracker beyond an org file.

I have Redmine installed on a EC2 free instance, but for most small personal projects I end up using a text file ;) I think I need something I can fully use from the shell – it takes too much time to do basic stuff like adding a new feature using a web interface.

We are still using Trac, though in the last 4 years we have done a bit of work customizing it and installing plug-ins to help it work with our processes.

I have also tried out launchpad, but found the UI to not be very intuitive.
