The gamers-round-the-table movie might actually be feasible. The Man Who Walked the Earth was a pretty interesting film to see, contrary to what I expected.

Yeah, that’s just too much work. That’s why I don’t even bother with Rifftrax even though I loved MST3K. I would actually pay premium for a DVD with an embedded riff track but alas – copyright is a bitch.

Sadly, we would have to wait about a 100 years or more to be able to do such a thing.

I guess the closest thing would be to make the “gamers round a table” segments, with instructions to have a legally obtained copy of Season of the Witch playing alongside it, and have the hypothetical viewer pause and play the two videos to interleave them.

Would be similar to a replacement audio track I’ve seen for the first Harry Potter movie… it didn’t quite sync up properly so there was quite a lot of pausing and waiting to be done.

Works better with audio played over the top of video rather than trying to intermix two videos though. Unless you also made a media player that could take a collection of videos and some instructions and mush them together for you, which is a project in its own right.

I have not seen season of the witch, but I have played some table top RPGs. And this does sound like the opening sequence to a stroy arc. Maybe the witch knew that one of the paladins crusaders would just use detect evil some sacrament to know there be evil here.

Your re-cut with the added layer sounds like “The Gamers” by Dead Gentlemen Productions. I recommend it, and if I recall correctly the commentary was also worth a watch.
