I don’t think I’d compare the final sequence in this film to that of the Avengers. They’re entirely different beasts. The Avengers was far more tongue-in-cheek.

I liked this movie by the way. The power corrupts theme, I like.

Now that you’ve mentioned it, I really see the resemblance to Akira which I irrationally hate. It’s no wonder then that I hated Chronicle too. Probably, because of the nerdy kid going off the rocks so quickly and easily. And probably because had I been in his place, that’s where it would’ve gone anyway :)

A movie a buddy of mine found that use the ‘found footage’ is Troll Hunter. http://movies.netflix.com/movie/Trollhunter/70170065

It’s subtitled in English and a lot of fun, though it starts a little slow.
