So Red Faction II was better? Damn, I should have gotten that one.
Yes. It had a linear story (so there was story, but that wasn’t too important to me) with lots of scripted events. There were too a lot of places where you couldn’t destroy some kind of wall or floor, but then you at least got some layer of destructable material over it, so you at least would see some dents if you want to try your precious grenades on it.
I remember having a lot fun playing it in multiplayer too, not like RF:Guerilla, where all of Multiplayer i remember is:
waiting for 3 additional players…
waiting for 3 additional players…
waiting for 2 additional players…
waiting for 1 additional player…
foo has quit, bar has quit, foobar has quit…
waiting for 4 additional players…
you have to remember that RF2 was in 2002, so it only had to compete with games like C&C Renegade (another nice concept, i would have loved to combine those two), Jedi Knight 2 (linear, better graphics, nothing really special) or BF1942 (worse graphics, but great Multiplayer).

Also, Games for Windows Live is the worst piece of shit I have ever seen in my life. I just don’t understand how Steam (which does the exact same type of thing) can be so awesome that I will actually add non-steam games and pirated games to my steam library so I can have Steam overlay running, whereas GFWL is like a swollen festering sore. :P
]]>well.. i played RF:guerilla some months ago and since i really liked the previous part of the series, i hoped for something good.
i was underwhealmed.
Destructing things works on less things and is no longer that much fun. Why can’t i just blast a hole into the ground? It doesn’t need to be that deep, just leaving a dent would be nice. But no: i can only destroy buildings.
Story: what story? i didn’t notice any.
Saving: GNAAAAAAAAA! That’s not saving, that’s Checkpoints!
Earning Points for damage: now it got just plainly stupid.
But the worst was multiplayer: ok, you _can_ play online. But all of this microsoft-bullshit just plainly sucks. I’ve never seen any worse implementation of how to find partners to play with since we stopped using null modem to connect all players.
And those crashes all the time when you (against all odds) just found enough players to start a session!
