By human standards it is not even old enough to drink.

Actually, you may drink beer at that age in Germany. No harder stuff though. And The Netherlands just recently ratcheted the age up to 18 for beer.

Nitpicking aside, I’m really surprised that this thing has a sensible (and kind of cool) back story. That actually sounds like something you’d come up with for reinventing fantasy races.
