Apparently we can expect a strong anti environmentalist advertising campaign on TV in US. The Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) has
produced two 60-second television spots focusing on the alleged global warming crisis and the calls by some environmental groups and politicians for reduced energy use. The ads are airing in 14 U.S. cities from May 18 to May 28, 2006. Link >>
Yes, you read this right, it says “alledged global warming crisis”. The video spots are priceless. They tell you that evil environmentalists want to take away your car, and that CO2 is good because it is naturally found in nature. Wow! I’m speechless. The arguments against global warming make as much sense as arguments against evolution.
It’s hard to believe that anyone could take this kind of stuff seriously. But then again, some people think that Banana is an undeniable proof against evolution. So you never know…
In fact, according to Source Watch CEI “is an ideologically-driven, well-funded front for corporations opposed to safety and environmental regulations that affect the way they do business”. So even if you are dumb enough to be swayed by the pretty moving pictures, and the soothing voice of the female narrator, you can’t ignore the fact that this organization has a clear anti-environmentalist agenda.
