I overheard this conversation while hanging out at Picken Square (a Guild Wars location):
Player 1: anyone doing dukes daughter? need help!
Player 2: yeah, I’ve been doing dukes daughter all night long
Player 3: me too
Player 4: ew, that’s necrofilia!
Player 5: ashfucker!
Player 2: dude, I’m a necromancer
Player 4: oh I guess it’s ok then
I just found it funny at the time  I’m typing this from memory, and I just don’t remember the handles of the players that had this little discussion. I also omitted all the lol’s and rotfl’s and rofmalo’s that ensued.
For those of you who don’t play GW, “Dukes Daughter” is one of the quests you can take at Picken Square. Long story short, you find out that she is dead, and the follow up mission is to recover her ashes (also known as Atheas Ashes quest).
Also, there is always some dude at the square who is selling the ashes. It’s actually a difficult quest, and a boring one because it forces you to retrace your steps along the same path you did when completing Duke’s Daughter. All the enemies of course are respawned so essentially you need to redo the last mission, and then hack your way through more enemies to get to the ashes.
Personally I didn’t bother with that mission, and set out to do some of the main storyline quests. One of these days I will go back and do that one. But some people simply choose to buy the ashes and get the XP and reward for the quest right away.
I always wonder how is that dude getting multiple copies of the ashes. Is there some way to duplicate objects in the game? Is there a way to cheat the system and be able to do the mission more than once as long as you don’t hand over the ashes to the Duke? Is his guild require new members to hand over the ashes? I will ask the next person who is selling them, but I’m no sure if I’ll get an answer. After all they are making money this way.
