The are rumors that NBC is considering a purchase Battlestar Galactica. If this is true, we might be seeing the end of the show as we know it. As much as I hate Scifi Channel, I have to admit that they traditionally allow their high rated shows to get away with relatively bold, and gutsy stuff. This was the case for Farscape (before they canned it) and now it is true for BSG.
The show is known for tackling controversial social, religious and political issues. If the show moves to NBC, will the network follow Scifi’s hands-off policy of allowing the writers to run wild, or will they try to tame it down for NBC audiences? Will they try to suppress the evident political commentary, and steer the show into more neutral waters to avoid angering conservative partners and sponsors? Will they pull the plug on religious themes in BSG to appease their bible beating, near-primate, logically impaired, evangelical viewer base?
For the show’s sake, let’s hope NBC reconsiders…

Are you fracking kidding me. BSG has a bunch of foul mouthed drunken sailors from the future. The show would be destroyed on NBC. I love the show, but I don’t think it would be worth watching anymore if it moved to a non-cable station.
I think I that NBC officially denied this rumor, but I don’t have the link hadny. Still, the fact they are denying it, doesn’t mean they are not thinking about it for the future.
