Oh, no! Star Wars VII

It’s a good thing that George Lucas decided not to make any more Star Wars movies. If he would decide to shoot episodes VII-IX the way he originally intended, I envision we would end up with something like this:

Star Wars VII

This is officially the worst imaginary movie ever.

This blog may have been meant as a good-natured jibe, but as a Star Wars “trekkie”, as it were, I take the jibe as an insult. And I do have it on good authority that George Lucas DOES plan to start shooting on Star Wars VII no earlier than the fall of 2014.

As long as he doesn’t direct them, or write the dialogs I would be fine with it. Lucas should just give general artistic direction, outline the plot and do what he does best – work closely on the visual aspect of the movie with the ILM.

The dialogs, actual storytelling should be left to someone who can actually deliver tightly plotted drama, and force the actors to actually emote on screen. Let’s face it – whatever you say about the prequels – good writing or acting is not really their strong side.

Not surprisingly, the SW movie that is most adored by the fans (Empire Strikes Back) was the only one not directed by George.

Btw – I don’t think you can be a Star Wars fan and a trekkie at the same time. I think it has something to do with quantum entanglement and the weight of the Higg’s Bosson but it is physically impossible to achieve… Or at least so I’ve been told.
