There is this notion in Lost community that the island is some sort of nexus that lies outside the normal time-space continuity. That the actions of characters on the island somehow influence both the past, present and the future of the outside world. That time travel is the key to all the mysteries. Then there are the continuity errors:

Now most of these are probably just human error. But what if some of them are not? Could it be that the flashbacks slowly change as our heroes spend time on the island? Probably not, but the above is still a cool video.

If it wasn’t intended to be different they probably would have just re-used the old footage and not changed anything.
Good point. But then again, they probably re-shot the scenes to do some retroactive continuity stuff. Like the “numbers” appearing in different places during Hurleys second run through the airport.
But yeah, some of this stuff is interesting.
I think I heard that the time travel theories had been shot down in an interview…
But I’ll watch the video, see what its got
hmm.. now that is a little interesting, especially the fact that in several of them something is inverted
I’m not totally convinced though, having said that, there are far more sightings of dead people than the laws of mortality normally allow for
Well, there is definitely some time travel action going on here – see Desmond. The fact they denied it, doesn’t mean that they are not using it. I mean, what were they supposed to say: “Yes, it’s all a time travel thing – you found as out!”
But yes, I’m not certain either.
But, I love how they tied in the turning of the key, and the brainwashing scene with all these inversions in this vid. It makes you think…
Desmond isn’t travelling back in time in the traditional sense though, because he doesn’t remember everything. Then again I don’t remember everything from a few years back but still, you’d think he’d know more. I think its more of a chance to try again when he fails.
Yes, but he does seem to have some time travel thing going on. It’s certainly not the “Back to the Future” kind, but more subjective “maybe I’m going crazy” kind.
Desmond seems to be able to look both into the past and the future ever since he turned that key. In this aspect he is more like Paul Atredies rather than Michael J. Fox. :P
