@ Mart:
Is there a mod that adds a new story?
and graphics?
and people?
and gameplay?
and game title in gerneral?

I chanced upon your site after googling the phrase ‘crysis 2 is boring’. I completely agree with you and your illustrations are very unique :).

I have tried multiple times to get into Crysis 2 but just can’t do it. For me, the main problem is that there is no incentive to “explore” and that saps the excitement out of each area:

1. There are plenty of ammo refills so you don’t have to worry about scrounging for more
2. You can sneak past most enemies meaning there is no point in even using your weapons in many cases.
3. There is nothing useful to be found by thoroughly searching your environment outside of the odd gun lying around and some hidden collectables which aren’t even beneficial to gameplay.

The game sure does look nice though especially if you can max out the visual settings and have both the DX11 and high resolution pack installed. Sound is fantastic too with very well implemented 3D positioning and dynamic range (quite effective for games like this). However, gamplay is just too shallow for my taste. Hopefully Crysis 3 can be better.

I thought I was alone, I too am very bored. Half the time you walk through empty streets just wishing there was something to do, how many more derelict cities, subways etc do I have to roam through.
This is just another fps game, another visual winner with little more to offer. The shooting is boring, Armour on, stand and shoot, cloak on walk crouched and pass everyone by and the bugs, dozens of them which really spoil the game, soldiers stuck in scenery, behind each other, in the air, aliens stuck unable to fight back, they just stand (Fish in a barrel) troops that vanish then reappear, I loved Crysis and I still love Crysis but this is abysmal.

I agree on some aspects. but the story was more intresting to me then any FPS i’ve played. And the whole maze thingmakes sense, but then again isn’t that every FPS that isn’t a free world. Defiantly a way better campaign release then MW3 and BF3 in my eyes, love both of those series, but both we insanly short, and you could just guess the story as you.

@ Mart:

Hmmm…. I did not think about mods. Mods could be this games only saving grace.

@ jambarama:

You mean this Borderlands? I tried it a while ago. It played too much like an MMO for my tastes.

@ Alex:

Let me put it this way:

Cysis 2 : Deus Ex HR :: stepping in dog poo : finding out they renewed Firefly

@ MrJones:

Heh, true. Although god-mode usually makes me bored with the game twice as fast.

@ MrPete:

Yeah, I remember chopping down the bamboo with automatic fire in Warhead. That was actually a really cool effect. Crysis 2 is set in NYC so 99.9% of what you see around you is indestructible. :(

@ copperfish:

I actually didn’t have that many issues with the first boss because I’m a gun/ammo hoarder. I was playing stealth as well, and my primary weapons were the stun gun and the tranq gun but I never threw away the assalut rifle and the 10mm pistol. I figured I may encounter a mission in which I will be forced to use a deadly force. So I just put silencers on both of them and modded them with other doodads.

The boss fight was actually pretty funny – it was me hiding behind pillars with my silenced rifle going “Ppppprrrrffffftttt ppppprrrrffffft ppppprrrrrffffffftttttt” while the guy was launching grenades. :P

I’ve gave it up too. No compelling storyline and wildly uneven difficulty levels ruined it for me. The fact that the story was apparently written by Richard Morgan amazes me because I love his books (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Morgan_%28author%29). Parts of the game are ridiculously hard in areas that have no reason to have increased difficulty.

@Alex Deus Ex: HR is great. The only downside are the bosses. If you play full stealth and hacking with no killing like I do, the first boss is a complete shock. I had no deadly weapons when I entered the room. I ended up beating the first boss by exploiting AI bugs and having him kill himself with his own grenades while I hid in a corner. Now I have to alter my augmentation upgrades to give me some combat skill. But for a game that really makes you feel like you’re playing the original Deus Ex it’s amazing.

Ah, Crysis.
I installed “Warhead” just because the engine was needed for MechWarrior Living Legends.
Then I played some while the update for MWLL downloaded and found it had an acceptable story. First I was delighted about the amount of damage you could deal to your surroundings given enough ammo/explosives but then I realized it’s all pretty much foliage you could lay waste to and holiday-resort-bamboo-buildings were made of Mysterionium(tm). The only substance that appears totally like something else while being impervious to any damage :(
Then I more or less stuck to MrJones solution: difficulty down and run along the storyline… To bad seeing what the engine could do.
