In this thread we discuss Zeno Clash Corwids! I want to hear your thoughts on these creatures. Well, at least from those of you who played the game. But let’s start from the begging. Let me introduce this mysterious group.
In Zeno Clash, the term Corwids is applied to a very diverse group of individuals that live in the forests outside the city of Halstedom. They are fiercely individualistic, unorganized and don’t seem to form any sort of cohesive society. In fact the only thing they all have in common is that they are all insane – by choice. Other than that, no two of them are alike.
For those of you who haven’t played the game, here is a short introductory video that introduces them:
Zeno Clash, the “Corwids of the Free” by ACETeamSoftware
Ghat seems to have some strange admiration for these people, and I think I do to. There seems to be a method to their madness. They are more than just a bunch of loons. They are a cult of self determination and absolute freedom. Corwids choose to be free above all else. They are not bound by human laws, by morality or even by common sense. They openly reject the reality that constrains them and substitute it with their own.
But this is not mere escapism. Corwids are not escaping from reality but are actively changing it. By sheer force of will they impose their internal vision upon the external worlds. They dig deep, tap into their deepest, darkest desires and then externalize them with a terrifying single mindedness. They become what we all try to hide and suppress the most.
Ghat seem to have joined the tribe to find himself because that seem to be what Corwids do the best. They find out what makes them tick and then do it, with reckless abandon and no regards for consequences. It almost seems that through their insanity, the Corwids find some sort of inner peace and enlightenment.
I find this concept of induced, directed, channeled insanity quite fascinating. How about you? What is your take on this strange group?
Semi off topic aside: in case you haven’t seen it yet, I created yet another game play video and posted it on youtube. This time around I show you how easy it is to defeat the final boss in Zeno Clash. Obviously, you should steer clear of it if you are avoiding spoilers.
The video has been up since last week, but I’m posting it here because most of you probably don’t subscribe to or check my Youtube channel. As usual, comments are always appreciated – either here or there.
