Who benefits from the Iraqi war?

Greg Plast nicely shows who really benefits from the ongoing Iraqi war.

The rise in the price of oil after the first three years of the war boosted the value of the reserves of ExxonMobil Oil alone by just over $666 billion.

[-snip-]

Altogether, I calculate that the top five oil operators saw their reserves rise in value by over $2.363 trillion.

If you still had doubts about the reasons why we are waging war in middle east, just look at these numbers. This war is not about terrorism. Terrorism is a serious, but relatively marginal danger.

The bottom line is, terrorism doesn’t kill many people. Even in Israel, you’re four times more likely to die in a car wreck than as a result of a terrorist attack. In the USA, you need to be more worried about lightning strikes than terrorism.

Think about it. Terrorism is just a pretext and republicans are using it to frighten the population, and legitimize the war. Please watch the Noam Chomsky speech that Ara posted in the comments to one of my posts.

War on terror is really war for profit. And it is not our profit. We are simply footing the bill so that the rich can get richer!
