Ghacks has a nice overview of the PS3 launch titles. I have to say, that they all kinda suck. Nothing in that lineup makes me want to spend that 1k to get the console.
Firs of all, I hate most sports games. I don’t give a shit about football, basketball and baseball so all the EA games and their clones do not appeal to me at all. I also hate racing games, skating, golf, hockey and etc. So the whole sports section has zero appeal to me.
Second, FPS games are meant to be played on a PC. You just can’t aim with a pad – there is just nothing that can bead mouse and keyboard combo. So shooters are out too.
Then there is Flow… Come on people! Flow was awesome as a flash game that you would play for 15 minutes and then move on. Sure, it’s fun, and it’s cute but I sure as hell would not pay fifty bucks (or whatever the new PS3 games will cost) for it. Meh…
Out of that whole lineup only the Marvel Ultimate Alliance looks borderline interesting, but that’s only because I have a soft spot for Marvel superhero stuff. But meh… It didn’t really blow me away or anything.
I’m totally unimpressed. If you were planning to buy it, better wait few months until there are more games to choose from. I’m definitely not going to buy it at all for several reasons:
- To expensive
- I’m not a big console person
- Sony is Evil
I just don’t like to give my money to a company that goes around installing rootkits on people’s computers.
Are you getting PS3? Which games do you think are worth playing?
[tags]PS3, play station 3, sony, flow, marvel ultimate alliance[/tags]
Only thing in their defence i’ll say is that i played fps on consoles long before pc’s. think back to goldeneye on n-64.
Really? I played old school FPS games like Wolfenstein 3D and Doom way before N64 even came out. :)
opps, i forgot about those. well, still i was more of a consol person before a pc person.
personally i’m getting the wii
Wii looks kinda cool because of the innovative design, but it seems that it will be a little like Game Cube – more geared toward the younger audiences, and family/party games. Which is not bad, but not exactly super awesome either.
Still not sure if it’s worth buying it. But then again it’s gonna be cheaper than PS3…
And then there is the fact that you can tell people that you are busy playing with your Wii…
which is a great reason to buy it. “can’t talk, playing with my wii”
and you could get 2 wii’s for the price of one ps3.
Flow is going to be a PS3 game?
hehe.. I remember being addicted to that li’l flash game for a while
cool game :)
but not worth buying for a console (cause its free online and works better with a mouse, you do the maths :P)
also, oooh, more info about me added around the post
hehe.. how does it know where i live? thats slightly strange
IP address I assume
Also please note that I’m only posting using Firefox 1.5.0.6 and Win2k because my normal computer is a little bit…. dead at the moment (soon be fixed.. hopefully) and I’m having to use a backed up version of firefox portable from our old desktop
Hehe! Yes, its an extension that looks at the IP. You can get it here.
I’m using another extension to detect the browser and OS of the commenter.
I’m loving the hell of of these extensions cause they give me more insight to who comments here. :)
Oh, and allot of people still use FF 1.5. As far as I can tell the 2.0 version is still not in the Ubuntu repositories for Hoary and Dapper. Not sure about Edgy cause I haven’t tried it yet. :P But those who live and die by apt will likely use 1.5 for a while still.
hehe, its a slightly strange experience going back to 1.5 – little things like the close tab button being on each tab
when I first saw that I thought I was going to not like it, but now I’m used to it, it seems really odd not having it
2.0 just looks a little bit more shiny and polished. Plus I love the spellcheck feature. I couldn’t live without it.
