How come I don’t have Gmail IMAP yet?
Dear Googel!
Where is my fucking IMAP access? Seriously! I’ve been a loyal fanboi for years. I use Gmail, Gtalk, Google Desktop, Adsense Ads, Google Analytics, Google Docs and your search engine on a daily basis. Now that I think about it, it’s actually kinda scary how many Google aps I actually use.
And yet, despite all of that, to date I haven’t seen that coveted IMAP option in my settings. WTF Google? Am I not worthy? What else do you want!
Everyone on the internets now is like “ooh, look I got Gmail IMAP access!” So I’m asking - where is mine? I need you to like, get on it and get it done! I better have it by Monday.

Wohoo! I got it! See comments.

I noticed I’m missing IMAP in mine too… I tried to setup my iPod Touch’s mail client to use Gmail’s IMAP thing today, but there was no option to turn it on in the Gmail settings!

It’s few days away…we’ve waited long enough, few more days won’t kill us, or will it? I want my IMAP access now dammit! lol!

i’m still waiting too .. actually two friends of mine who’ll never use imap have it but I still have to wait .. it’s not fair .. I think they noticed I logged in quite frequently just to check whether imap is available or not .. and they’ll keep me suffering … *sigh* .. but tomorrow is another day ..

Let’s hope that Gmail will see the repeated occurrences of the words Gmail and IMAP in the comment notifications from this post and will get the hint.

I didn’t even know there’s IMAP access in Gmail. Just checked it today and lo! IMAP is enabled! Woot~~~!!
Yeah, I hate web interfaces too. Avoid it like the plague. I use Outlook Express and check my gmail using POP. Let’s try IMAP now!

Features like this are seem to be rolled out to “lightly used” accounts first - my 10 year old sister always gets new features in her gmail account before I do.

@Muhammad - I officially hate you now!
@jambarama - lightly used you say… Sigh, this means I’m not getting my IMAP in a long while then, because there is nothing light about my use of Gmail. Then again, my mailbox is only like 15% full so I’m probably not the heaviest user either.

Yep, I’ve been trying to figure out why I am being treated as a second class citizen… is it because I depend on it too much?!

Man, gmail IMAP kinda sucks. The service is too slow on my Outlook 2007, and it keeps getting disconnected on Outlook Express.
Looks like I’m back using POP with Outlook Express.

I’m waiting too! i only have IMAP enabled in my Google Apps account but not in my Gmail account.
@Muhammad: use Thunderbird! it’s way better and faster than Outlook.

I think that there’s something to what “jambarama” said above. I just got IMAP access enabled on my other (much less used) gmail account while my main account still only has POP.

Yes! I got it! And it’s actually pretty fast working with Thunderbird.
If you are waiting for it, go check it again now!
If you don’t have it yet, you are probably using Gmail more than I do.

When it was first introduced, IMAP was only enabled if your language setting was “English (US)”. It works now for “English (UK)” too, but maybe it is still not available for all languages?
