It’s funny, but no one at my work got one yet, but they don’t seem to be able to shut up about it. As sweet as it might be I’m definitely not getting one because:
- I have Verizon
- I don’t want to pay $600 for a cell phone
- I don’t have a data plan, and I don’t want to pay for one
- Edge is slow, and if I’m in a wifi hotspot I’d rather use my laptop
- I drop my phone – frequently
- Version 2.0 is always better
- I don’t even fucking own an iPod
But that’s me. How about you? Did you get one? Are you planning to get one? If you already have one, what do you like about it? What do you hate about it (and yes, there is surely something that you don’t like about it)?
I’ll leave you off with a Fail of the Month. This woman paid $800 to buy the first spot in the iPhone line, and then tried to buy $100k worth of iPhones (to sell on eBay), only to find out the stores have a one phone per customer rule.
WTF? It’s not a PS3 lady! Apple is actually a real company as opposed to Sony, which I hear was recently taken over by the Failbots from the planet Fail. You can actually order an iPhone online! Who the fuck is gonna buy it from you on eBay at inflated prices?
[tags]iphone, phone, apple, $800[/tags]
So true ;)
I’d love one (version 1.0 or 2.0 :P), but they don’t even have a date for release in the UK yet :(
Nowadays, I hate almost everything from Apple because of the lock-in. They are always almost forcing you to have all their products/software once you buy the first one.
I would rather wait for similar models from other companies that would allow me to choose the telecom company, to use other resources of the cell without it being connected to a line, and to put and play any common and accepted standard.
I’d rather save a little more money and buy me a good laptop. Only differences are the portability (maybe) and the call functionality (maybe)…
My current cell phone also has a lot of features, which is nice, but i don’t use them a lot, so why pay more than twice as more for a bit extra? Oh, yeah, because it’s Apple :p
I really want an iPhone, but I can’t justify it to even myself! I guess it is the geek in me that loves all the technology inside.
I recently moved to Verizon and got an LG VX8300 for free (two actually, one for my wife as well). I found a little program called BitPim that allowed me to hack the phone and configure it for free internet access (It uses minutes, but not the extra internet charge). It alos had a microSD slot, so putting my music on it is a breeze.
I have almost all the same capabilities as the iPhone. Mine may not be as pretty, but it is just as functional.
Oh, did I mention that I can actually make phone calls? ;-)
Don’t have one don’t plan on getting one and if ya gave me one I’d sell it…after i played with it for a month or two (of course), lmao.
Craig, I use BitPim too. I’m kinda bummed out because I wanted to buy the Samsung SCH-u740 and it doesn’t seem to be supported. I currently have the old SCH-a670 and BitPim works great.
I could never get the free internet thing working. It would be a pain to browse the web on it anyway. At least the iPhone has an actual browser and works with normal web. Not that I really need it.
Wikke – I second that. You can actually buy a MacMini for the same price – or a low end Dell desktop. Add another $500 to this, and you have yourself a new MacBook or a lower end Dell laptop.
